
This Local Option Sales Tax Accountant II position is essential and will work in the Public Works Division of Saint Paul. The selected person will work with internal and external customers, assist leadership in financial reporting and decisions, and have excellent knowledge of General Accepted Accounting Principles, ACFR Statements, Operations, and Capital.

Responsibilities
Here’s what you can expect to do: Performs intermediate level professional accounting work in the maintenance of accounts and preparation of financial reports and statements; and performs related duties as required.
Primary Responsibilities:
Maintains accurate accounting for departmental funds, projects, and completes allocations and accounting transactions including journal entries. Prepares financial projections, program income allocations, and financial reports for capital projects. Provides financial reports, variance analysis, and reconciliations for the year end audit. Prepares year-end financial statements and periodic financial reports. Assists with the preparation of the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report, including schedules, notes, and tables. Reviews accounting procedures and recommends changes in procedures as needed. For more information and essential functions, see our job description. Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration, public administration or a related field including 24 quarter credits or equivalent semester credits in accounting courses.
AND
Two years of experience as an Accountant I or equivalent experience in maintaining accounts, analyzing financial data and preparing financial reports, preferably in a governmental accounting environment. (No substitution for education.)
